Matthias Grund (*1995, Cologne) is an artist, designer and researcher. He runs an independent creative practice and conducts artistic research in the field of visual culture with a focus on (synthetic) images.
He holds a B.A. & M.A. in Integrated Design from Köln International School of Design and has studied at Parsons School of Design (New York), Chiba University (Japan) and Academy of Media Arts Cologne. Matthias is a recipient of the Kölner Design Prize 2023 and gute aussichten - new german photography 2023/24. His work has been shown at institutions such as the HfG-Archiv / Museum Ulm, the Landesmuseum Koblenz, the Museum of Applied Arts Cologne (MAKK), as well as at various symposia and academic conferences at places such as the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz (KHI). Further showings are scheduled at the Städtische Galerie Karlsruhe and Deichtorhallen in Hamburg in 2025.
He is currently a research associate in the federally funded research project “KITeGG - Making AI Tangible and Comprehensible: Connecting Technology and Society through Design”.
